nice places

Sometimes I take for granted the beauty of the northwest. About a week or two ago I drove from Portland to Boise and about the first third or half of that drive follows the Columbia river. In a time where we trade parks and forests for Best Buys and endless subdivisions, it was refreshing to take a beautiful drive amongst a mighty river and treed hills. That's probably not something that you can get just anywhere. Unfortunately after that drive separates from the river you end up with a lot of brown hills and eastern Oregon desert.

On another note, Kiplinger.com came out with a list of the ten "Best Cities to Live, Work and Play" and Boise ranked number 4 on that list. The criteria was "places with strong economies and abundant jobs, then demand reasonable living costs and plenty of fun things to do." Upon a little more research I discovered that Boise also ranked No. 2 on Forbes' best places for business and careers; No. 9 on Inc.com's hottest cities for entrepreneurs; No. 1 National Geographic adventure town; and No. 8 on Money magazine's best places to live. Sometimes you don't realize how good you have it. Well I have never lived in Boise, but now I'm thinking that it might be worth a try. While my other theory is that I can have a good time wherever I end up, Boise is just a little more attractive because I know many people in the area. Bottom line is I don't really know what I want... but I'm very open to suggestions.
